The Newburgh Telegram announces that Mrs. Paul Halliday, the crazy woman from Burlingham now in Auburn Asylum was assaulted in jail in that city by “Hoppy” Hammond, McDermott and Lieb who were sentenced to State prison soon after. These facts have come to light and show a very deplorable condition in which the jail is in in that city. No blame is attached to Sheriff Goodale.
