A duel was fought in the neighbourhood of Paris yesterday between MM. Jules Huret and Catulle Mendes, two well-known literary men. The weapons used were swords, and the encounter resulted in M. Mendes receiving a slight wound. The duel arose out of some remarks which M. Huret made in the "Petite Chronique des Lettres," in which he referred to the amicable relations subsisting between M. Catulle Mendes and Mr. Oscar Wilde, and to which M. Mendes took exception. It is believed that other duels arising out of the same motive are pening.
