{{Infobox bio | name = John L. Mailahn | image = | birth_name = | birth_date = 21 Jun 1903 | birth_place = Center, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA | death_date = 2 Feb 1912 | death_place = Black Creek, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA | cause = murdered by brother, slit throat | nationality = American | father = [[Louis Mailahn]] | mother = [[Augusta Schmidt Mailahn|Augusta Schmidt]] | occupation = student }} [[Case File: Mailahn Family]] ==Episodes== * [[Ep. 1 - The Mailahn Family Massacre]] ==Bio== John was the fifth son, and youngest child, of the family. His entire life would have been a constant loss of close relatives to consumption, including his [[Augusta Schmidt Mailahn|mother]] and five older sisters, until 2 Feb 1912. After his elder brother [[William Mailahn|William]] had ensured that their eldest brother [[Edward Mailahn|Edward]] had left to pick up the other older brothers from school, William quietly killed his [[Louis Mailahn|father]] and [[Dora Mailahn|sister]]. It is believed that John either witnessed one of these murders directly, or saw his brother covered in blood. Little John, only 8 years old, ran to the smokehouse about 50 yards behind the house, to hide. But he was no match for his brother who found him and, with a razor, slit Johnnie's throat from ear to ear. The body was still warm when the brothers returned. No specific details of his life or personality were mentioned. == Documentation == === Cemetery Records === * [[Black Creek Cemetery Burials]] === Census Records === * [[1900 Census - ED75 - Page 11B|1900]] - Black Creek, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA * [[1905 Census - Center, Outagamie - Page 1|1905]] - Center, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA * [[1910 Census - ED130 - Page 12A|1910]] - Center, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA === Newspapers === * [[3 Feb 1912 - The Post-Crescent (Appleton, Wisconsin)]] - Kills Father, Sister, Brother and Himself * [[5 Feb 1912 - The Post-Crescent (Appleton, Wisconsin)]] - Father Has Presentiment * [[8 Feb 1912 - Appleton Weekly Post (Appleton, Wisconsin)]] - Fiend Kills Father, Sister, Brother and Ends Own Life * [[14 Feb 1912 - The Post-Crescent (Appleton, Wisconsin)]] - Brother Tells of the Tragedy
